Resolution for 2010

Happy New Year friends and family!!!

Well, the past 6 months was crazy for our little family and, consequently, the family Blog paid the price. We're excited to begin a new year of adventures and we resolve to get back to the family Blog with regular updates and pictures.

Nicki, Maggie and Lyla are doing well and we are pleased to say that we are now living in our new house. Each morning we have to pinch each other to confirm that this isn't a dream.

We wish you all the best for the year to come.

Love,
James, Nicola, Maggie & Lyla

A NEW BLOG just for My RONA Home Updates

Hello friends & family:
Well, it has been an intense couple of months for our little family and it is only going to get more intense as we creep up on the FINALE of our TV show My RONA Home at the end of November. With so many questions and inquiries about the show, we have decided to start a second blog specifically to provide information, pictures and thoughts about the show for people to go to. Also, we would like to attempt to return our family blog "Mooney Moments" to that of a family blog with pictures of the girls and family news unrelated to the show.
I have added our new My RONA Home - Team Yellow Blog to our list of blogs we follow on the left side of the page for easy access.
If you would like to check it out it is:
Please feel free to direct people to that blog for information about the show. Thanks everyone for faithfully supporting the show and voting for our family.
We're looking forward to sharing some pictures from Halloween here at MOONEY MOMENTS sometime early next week.
All our Love,
James & Nicola

Episode 1: Meet the Families - My RONA Home

Hello friends and family:

Well, episode 1 is in the books and it was a resounding success. Thank-you everyone for all your messages of encouragement and for taking the time to watch the show and vote. It means so much to our little family.

I am writing this post from my hotel room in London Ontario. I'm out here for the week at our company's head office for training so I've been trying to keep up with the excitement back home through e-mail, Facebook and various fan sites. One thing for sure is I can't wait to get home to my girls... just a few more days.

The following are a few items for clarification regarding the show.

1. Want to watch but you're in the U.S. or not in a broadcast area? I confirmed today that the first episode, in it's entirety, can be viewed at the show's website. Go to http://www.myronahome.ca/

I'm not sure if they are going to put all the episodes on the site but hopefully they will.

2. Voting - How does it work? Following the airing of each episode go to http://www.myronahome.ca/ and look for the voting tab. Here you will be asked to enter your personal information and will be able to click your vote for the YELLOW team. Voters can return to the website and place one vote per computer (IP address) per day. They track votes and you can only vote once per 24 hour time frame. If you vote throughout the week, each week, you should be able to submit up to 7 votes per computer. Each vote also works for you as an entry into a draw for a 2010 Ford Flex Limited... a nice little prize for some lucky fan. These votes are free. If you choose, there is a 900 number listed on the site that you can call your vote in but there is a $0.50 charge.

3. Are you on Facebook? Show your support for team yellow anytime by joining the My RONA Home Facebook fan page found again at http://www.myronahome.ca/. After just a few days there are already over 400 registered members made up of both YELLOW team and Blue team fans. You can comment on each show or simply give YELLOW a shout out.

4. How can you help? Spread the word. Tell your friends, family, work colleagues, churches, neighbors and anyone who'll listen, to watch and vote. The show airs for the next 10 weeks on CITY TV from coast to coast on Sunday nights 9pm (ET/PT) 8pm (MT/CT). Feel free to share our blog.

Missed the show but want to vote anyway. Please do. Still want to see an already aired episode, you should be able to view it on the website http://www.myronahome.ca/. I have also heard that they may be re-airing the previous Sunday's episode the following Saturday night. Check your listings.

5. When will we know the results of each week's voting? Unfortunately, we won't know any of the results until the live finale in early December. It is a long time to wait but it sure will make the finale exciting.

6. Have a question? Leave a message in our blog's guestbook and we'll either e-mail you directly or post a general answer.

Everything related to the show can be found by exploring the website:

Thanks again. Gooooooooo YELLOW!!!

It is FINISHED!!!

It is Thursday, September 24th. Nicola and I spent the day today doing absolutely nothing...well, nothing else besides enjoying some much needed time with our little girls.

We're pooped. Our bodies ache. Our fingers are raw. Our eyes are heavy and our knees are weak. It truly has been an amazing & exhausting adventure.

Where did the summer go? Though you wouldn't know it by the blazing heat of the past week here in Calgary, it is now officially fall and October is less than a week away. In our minds it still feels like it should still be the last week of August but the leaves on our front lawn in Bowness and the chilly mornings confirm that another month has actually come and gone.

From the day in June when we submitted our audition application until yesterday, when we officially completed the construction of our future home, it is has been an amazing 103 days that will forever change our lives. In 250 hours of labor spread over 17 days of filming during this past month, we took a house from studs and Tyvek wrap to completion right down to furnishing and decorating. Yesterday, under a scorching 34 degree sun, we completed the 9th episode; the landscaping and deck episode. Though we were elated to be done with the construction, a small sadness creeped into our thoughts as we said goodbye to the production team, the other family and our team of professionals. The house is now locked up and we said goodbye to it as well until the finale in early December. One day later it is already feeling like it was all a dream.

Nicola and I would like to thank the following people for their appearance and help on various episodes of the show: (We could not have done it without you!)
  • Jordan Clark (Bedrooms, Basement & Siding)

  • Kari Clark (Bedrooms, Basement & Landscaping)

  • Josh Mooney (Dining Room, Mud Room & Laundry Room)

  • Jeff Holmgren (Living Room, Front Entry & Stairwells)

  • Darrin Pawlak (Siding/Facing)

  • Jill Pawlak (Siding/Facing)

  • Colin Hattrick (Siding/Facing)

  • Dad - Jack Mooney (Siding/Facing)

  • Jason Holmgren (Landscaping/Deck)

  • Mike McKinney (Landscaping/Deck)

  • James Savage (Landscaping/Deck)

  • Aly's Jason (Siding/Facing & Landscaping/Deck)
We would also like to thank our amazing team and new friends.... TEAM YELLOW: (We truly could not have done it without you!!!)
  • Greg (Wolverine) Dudar (Our General Contractor)

  • Dean (The Most Amazing Deck in Calgary) (Our Framer-Carpenter / Handyman)

  • Mike (The Magician) (Our Carpenter / Handyman)

  • Aly ("Work it Out") Velji (Our Fabulous Designer)

  • Jenn (Sweat Blossom) Avis (Our Manager)
Finally... we would like to thank the following people for their loving support and care for our treasured daughters:
  • Patti Clark (Grammie) Thank-you for supporting Becky with the girls.

  • Judy Mooney (Grandma) Thank-you for supporting Becky with the girls and thank-you for the amazing meals on the nights we crawled through the door exhausted and hungry.

  • Rebecca (Bucky) Hammond (Amazing Friend & Temporary Live-In Nanny) Thank-you "Bucky" for putting your life on hold to come live at our house for 5 weeks and love and care for Maggie & Lyla as though they were your very own. Thank-you for doing the laundry, cleaning the house, making our meals and allowing us to spend our precious time at home with the girls and sleeping. We could not have survived this without you. Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you!!!

Now begins the big push to get the word out. We need you and everyone you know and everyone they know to watch the show and vote.

We are the YELLOW TEAM.

The premiere of the show is:

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4TH, 2009 - 8PM MT/CT 9PM ET/PT ON CITY TV. (The show will be aired from coast to coast on CITY TV. In Calgary, CITY TV is channel 8)

The show will air every Sunday evening for 10 weeks and we need everyone to vote each week. (I have heard that they will be re-airing the previous Sunday's episode on the following Saturday night but I haven't officially confirmed that yet.)

They have begun airing commercials for the show on City TV.

The show is called My RONA Home.

To Vote each week, see clips from the show, see the bios and photo galleries for both families go to: http://www.myronahome.ca/

I tried to create a link to our first commercial but it didn't work. If you go to the above website, you can view the commerical there. You may actually see it on TV in the days leading up to the premiere.

*** Feel free to share our blog with your friends and family. We would love to know how far this reaches so please leave a quick comment and/or sign our guestbook at the top left corner of our blog page to show your support.***

We can't speak much about the show until it airs but I will see if we can get permission to show our photo's and share our thoughts on each room each week after it airs on TV.

Thanks everyone for your support in this once in a lifetime experience for our family.

All our love,

James, Nicola, Maggie & Lyla
